This course introduces programmable logic controller (PLC) technology and industrial control devices used in automation. The focus is on PLC hardware configuration and programming methods using basic logic functions.
The course covers:
• PLC system components
• Interfacing input/output devices
• CPU configuration
• Program organisation
• Memory concepts, addressing, and data types
• Programming in Ladder and Function Block Diagram
• HMI panel integration
• Online interaction with the CPU
• Monitoring program execution and diagnostics.
This course is suitable for varying backgrounds ranging from beginners with no knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), to practitioners wanting to extend their experience with additional platforms.
The following software and hardware are used;
• Siemens TIA Portal V15 and SIMATIC S7-1500 controller with CPU1516 3PN/DP
• Omron CX-One V4.0 and SYSMAC CJ2M controller with CPU31.
