Outcome

Students will gain an awareness of the process involved, practical skills and techniques, recognising elements of a good picture book and a list of local publishers.

Pre-requisites

An interest in writing, drawing and/or illustration

Materials supplied

Materials for demonstrations and class exercises will be supplied.

Materials to bring

• Students need to bring a pencil and a drawing pad to the first class
• A list of suggested materials will be provided in the first class, (materials may cost approx. $30-50)

Award

Participants will be awarded an RMIT Statement of Participation

Course Presenter - Lorette Broekstra
Lorette is a graphic designer and an award-winning illustrator of children's books. She has won the Crichton Award for illustration and has been short listed for a number of other awards. She has published many picture books both in Australia and overseas.
