Develop knowledge and understanding of key concepts and themes that have shaped current contemporary art practice. The course consists of a series of twenty lectures. This can be applied to your own practice, or inform engagement with contemporary art work.
Acquire knowledge and understanding of contemporary art practice by looking at art history thematically, examining art in relation to realism, expression, imagination, fragmentation and construction, colour, abstraction and identity over a series of twenty lectures. Develop this knowledge through the completion of one short essay which will be developed in consultation with the teacher. The understanding gained upon completion of the course can be applied to your own practice, or inform engagement with contemporary art work.
School leavers, mature aged participants, current RMIT students.
Students will receive a transcript with a grade in the nationally recognised unit of competency.
All relevant course materials are included.
Pen/pencil and notebook, or electronic tablet if preferred, for the purpose of taking notes.
Participants will be awarded an RMIT Statement of Participation.
