This course contains R-rated video content and is therefore restricted to students aged 18 and over.

Outcome

This course aims to teach the classic fundamental skills involved in storytelling and screenwriting, skills you can utilize when writing for film and television regardless of your desired tone, genre, subject matter or commercial sensibilities. Screenwriting – Introduction will give you the tools to develop projects worthy of pitching in the screen industry whether your aspirations are to work in Australia or overseas.

Pre-requisites

A passion for story in either Film or TV formats.

Weekly handouts, printed and electronic (downloadable). Custom Story Development Documents.

Materials to bring

Pen/pencil and notebook.

Award

Participants will be awarded an RMIT Certificate of Completion.

Course Presenter - Brett Stanning
Brett Stanning has written and script edited many screenplays: short films, music videos, TV and feature films, both spec and assignment. He recently co-created a comedy series with Tim Ferguson, has directed short films, music videos and sitcom teasers. Brett is in post-production on horror short film, Skullz, as Writer, Director & Producer. Brett also assesses screenplays for the Australian Writers Guild.
