Maya for Animation

Overview

Maya is an industry standard in film and computer game production. This course serves as an introduction, providing instruction in modelling, texturing, and rendering with Maya.

Course content

This course will provide an overview of Autodesk Maya for complete beginners or animators who want to re-skill in Maya.

The sessions cover the essentials of the 3D pipeline: modelling, texturing, lighting, keyframe animation and rendering.

The student will create an environment project applying all the skills learnt during the course.

 

Ideal for

This is an entry level course designed for anyone wishing to learn 3D animation.

Important Information

Completion of this course will not guarantee entry into an RMIT Program.

Outcome

On completing this course you will feel comfortable using Maya to create, animate and render simple forms. You will create an environment applying all the skills learnt in the course.

Pre-requisites

There are no specific entrance requirements for this course.
Basic computer skills will be utilised.

Participants will be awarded an RMIT Certificate of Completion.

Course facilitator: Kate Inabinet
Kate Inabinet is an industry professional with over 14 years’ experience as a senior, principle and freelance animator for games, and is actively involved in the education of a future generation of game developers. She is currently lecturing at RMIT Melbourne on Animation, Project Management, Games Industry and Portfolio Development. When not marking assignments Kate spends her time providing contract animations, designing and creating content for her own education based games for children, or playing Guild Wars 2.
