Photoshop for Photography

Overview

In this six week introductory course you will begin to develop the appropriate use of various tools in Photoshop. Focusing on the needs of photographers, you will learn skills that will enable you to manipulate and enhance digital images and reliably produce high quality photographic images.

Course content

Using Adobe Bridge
Photoshop tools overview
Jpeg files capture and post production
Layers and layer masks
Histograms and curves
Colour and tonal adjustments
Creating composite images
Black and white digital darkroom
Blending modes and filters

Ideal for

People with little or no knowledge of Photoshop looking to enhance their technical skills and the creative techniques that may be used to improve image quality.

Completion of this course will not guarantee entry into an RMIT Program.

Outcome

On completion of this course, you will have developed the essential knowledge and understanding required to effectively use tools and functions in the adobe Photoshop application.

Pre-requisites

Basic camera and computer knowledge. (MAC experience recommended)

Materials supplied

On campus use of Mac computers.

Materials to bring

File storage device, ie. USB flash drive, hard drive, recordable CD or DVD
Notebook and pen
Images (of any kind)

Award

Participants will be awarded an RMIT Certificate of Completion.

Course Presenter - Joseph Brabet
Joseph Brabet brings his photography expertise and design know-how to every PhotoShop class. With a background in architecture and many years’ experience in graphic design before becoming a professional photographer, Joseph knows color and composition. He has worked as a photographer, designer and educator in Australia, Japan, Singapore, France, Germany and Switzerland.
